The Manual
What is In Nomine Credimus?INC is an online browser-based RPG (Role-Playing Game). In the game, numerous players from many countries can meet to fight with each other, explore various locations or simply talk. The possibilities are unrestricted.
How to start? The first step to join INC players is registering at
www.innominecredimus.com. You will need an account in order to participate in the game. After it is created, you can log in and personalise your profile. The first thing to do is to choose the side of the fictional (and legendary) conflict between Angels and Demons. Once you make the decision, you will be able to create a newly-born character belonging to either the first or the second group mentioned.
Profile and CharacteristicsYour newly-created character (an angel or a demon) is now ready to live and develop (in Heaven or Hell). There are many things that you can do in the INC universe. To begin with, take a look at your characteristics. On the left side of the page there is the Game Panel. Click on the Overview to see the basic information concerning your character. More specific data is available in Details. Please read the hints to find out what a specific Attribute or Skill is needed for. Make sure that you know what Action Points or Hit Points are used for!
How to play the game? The best thing about In Nomine Credimus is that the figure you create is not static or colourless. You are given the possibility to develop a vivid, inspiring character, similar to those you may encounter in books or films. Your hero, however, will be different in a significant way: it is you who controls all his / her actions and decisions! Do you prefer to be strong and agile, or rather intelligent and iron-willed? The choice is yours, and you can always change your preferences during the game. Unlike many other games, INC got rid of stiff and unrealistic frames that restrict your possibilities and, therefore, the pleasure of playing the game.
After you log in for the first time, your character is a newly-born angel or demon, with all the statistics at level 1, having only a few basic skills. The adventure has just begun. The main purpose of In Nomine Credimus is to develop your character by raising his / her Attributes and Skills, and by obtaining more and more powerful equipment. You will be able to challenge other players’ characters, and fight for the sake of Heavenly forces or the legions of Hell.
How to begin? Firstly, you will certainly need some money. In order to start earning you should visit the basic location for new players: either the First Heaven (if you are an angel) or the First Circle of Hell (in case of demons). Visit the places of work that are available there and check which types of job are the most profitable. At the beginning of the game you should pick those with highest basic salary. Later on the choice will be based on your Attributes (for example, if you developed your Endurance, you should try physical work). If you are the risky type, you can go to the Ruins in search of items that you will later sell in shops (also available in the location mentioned). But beware of the malicious monsters that can be found there! If you are attacked and lose the battle (which is frequent at the start), do not worry too much. You can go to the Bistro (Heaven) or the Chinese Restaurant (Hell) and eat some food. It will regenerate your HP. Then you can continue your explorations.
Well, you managed to earn some money and wonder: what can I buy for it? Of course, you can visit various shops and choose some equipment which will increase your abilities. You can also go to training places and begin with building up your character’s Attributes. A good idea, not only for the new players but also for the veterans, is to raise your Endurance. The maximum amount of your Action Points depends on this Attribute. The higher it is, the more AP you get. Therefore, you may develop faster than those with lower Endurance. Nice, isn’t it? So generally it is recommended to start the game with earning some money and training Endurance, which can be done in the pool or the gym.
After you reach a fair level of Endurance, you can think of training other Attributes. It is nice to develop Strength and Dexterity in order to deal with the various hostile creatures that you may encounter. Training is not the only way of gaining experience points; you can receive them after a battle (even if you lose) or during work (not many of them, though).
Let us now take a look at the foundation of your character development: the experience points. Unlike many other games, there is no such thing as “experience bar”. Your experience level is calculated on the basis of your three highest Attributes. More specifically: your level is the arithmetic mean of your three most developed Attributes. Another important thing is that you do not earn “universal” experience points, but you increase your experience points in Attributes. This means that reading books in library will increase your experience points in Wisdom, while swimming in the pool may affect your Strength experience points.
How is obtaining experience points in various Attributes related to their raising? It is simple. If your amount of experience in, say, Intelligence, reach a specific level (which can be checked in Details at your Game Panel), you will get an additional point of this Attribute. The more exp you have, the higher your stats are. Fair enough? But that is not all! Skills are your character’s abilities that are not increased automatically, during a regular training or work. However, there are some places, for instance the pub in the Limbo, were you can “buy” some new skills and later develop them. You will need money and Attribute experience points. Let us illustrate it with an example. If you want to become a proficient gunslinger, you will need the Ranged Weapon skill. The first step to take is to earn some money (you have to pay for the training) and gain some experience in those Attributes that are related to the skill (in our case, Perception and Dexterity). You will see a special icon when all conditions will be fulfilled.
Note well that you will spend your Attribute experience on raising skills, but it will NOT cause your Attribute level to decrease. There is a division between general exp and available exp.
The next thing of concern is equipment. You gain access to it from the Game Panel. To equip an item, just click on the icon representing it. The same if you want to take it off. Read the descriptions to find out what different elements of inventory are useful for.
The stronger your hero becomes, the more locations become available. Take a tour to the First Heaven or the Purgatory. The descriptions and hints will tell you what actions you can take. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the administrators or other players. Good luck!
